Job Description

US Foodservice, Houston, TX Division, is seeking local Class A CDL drivers for the Dallas area. The duties include delivering products to customers using a ramp and two-wheel hand truck, reconciling deliveries against invoice, collecting payment from customers if required, and competing any necessary documentation

  • Promptly at the start of the shift check route numbers and account numbers for days assigned deliveries.
  • Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded.
  • Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer.
  • Perform “pre-trip safety check” inspection of truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to a predetermined route.
  • Unload products from the trailer with a hand truck or by hand and place them in designated customer storage areas.
  • Perform damage control checks on items and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy.
  • Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures. Collect money (cash or checks) where required.
  • Bring Tractor/Trailer to the fuel island for fueling and appropriate daily service.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns at the driver check-in dock and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Clean tractor and trailer or “red tag” for repair of maintenance as needed.
  • Move trailer to proper storage area in the yard, perform safety check on the vehicle, unhook trailer from the tractor and secure.
  • Park and secure tractor and secure hand truck in the proper location in the yard.
  • Maintain Department of Transportation (DOT) logs, company vehicle maintenance reports, and reconcile with the clerk as required
Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must have a minimum of 1 year Over the Road experience or foodservice delivery experience.
  • Must have valid Class A CDL
  • No DUI convictions within past 3 years, regardless of type of vehicle operated
  • No DL suspension within past 3 years.  Insurance/overweight tickets are excluded.
  • No termination by previous employer for failure to comply with safety regulations or for accident involvement.
  • Pass a driver’s road test.  A Certificate of Driver’s Road Test from a previous employer is not an acceptable substitute.
  • Read and speak English well enough to perform their job.
  • Successfully complete the DOT written examination for drivers.  Pass a control substance abuse screening test and background check (including criminal and previous employment verification).

Preferred:

  • 1 year foodservice/beverage delivery experience
