It is also used to create epoxy resins which line cans containing food or beverage to prevent spoilage or contamination from the metal. Muranaka Farms and Combs Produce are conducting a voluntary product recall of fresh bunched parsley because of possible Salmonella contamination.
This supplier is recalling 1005 cases of 60 count bunched parsley distributed in the following 10 states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin. (View PDF to read more)

09-01-2009 Sara Lee Pies
Allergen Issue
Sara Lee Corporation has uncovered that some chocolate meringue pies under the brand“Chef Pierre” were packed in boxes marked “lemon meringue”. Because the chocolate pies contain milk, an allergen, the pies are considered misbranded and they issued a recall. The recall was originally issued several days ago, but after a review of all production codes the recall has now been expanded to include additional productions. 07-22-2009 T&A Romaine Lettuce Class I Tanimura & Antle, Inc. of Salinas, Calif. is voluntarily recalling one lot of romaine lettuce because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Included in this lot is lettuce under the Cross Valley Farms label. No illnesses have been reported to date. 07-15-2009 Solar Farms Alfalfa Sprouts, Listeria Solar Farms Inc. of West Columbia, S.C., is voluntarily recalling Solar Farms Alfalfa Sprouts after tests by the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services confirmed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in product samples. Each of the above-listed products is being recalled because these products were made with powdered milk previously recalled by Plainview Milk Products Cooperative that has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. Advance Meat Co. CORRECTION & UPDATE

On June 29th, we announced that Advance Meat Company had issued a Class I Recall on sliced steak products because of potential E Coli contamination. Brands affected include specific lot codes of Cattleman’s Selection, Steak Eze, Tasty Steak, and Philly Freedom. These sliced steak products are typically used to make steak sandwiches, Philadelphia-style cheese steaks, etc. The Advance recall was part of a larger recall by JBS Swift Co. 07-06-2009 Malt O Meal Class I Salmonella Malt-O-Meal Company is conducting a voluntary product recall of single-serve packets of “Maple & Brown Sugar Instant Oatmeal” with carton date codes between June 30, 2009 and October 28, 2010 sold nationwide under a number of brands. 07-01-2009 National Steak & Poultry Company National Steak & Poultry Company (NSP) of Owasso OK has issued a Class I Recall on 8oz beef steaks under the “National” brand. Class 1 Recall
Testing by the FDA and by an independent laboratory on behalf of U.S. Foodservice has revealed a high level of histamines in International Green Anchovy Fillets packed in Olive Oil. The level is high enough to cause an allergic reaction in histamine-sensitive individuals. Therefore the importer has decided to issue a CLASS I Recall effective immediately. 05-15-2009 Alfalfa Sprouts Upate Several weeks ago, the FDA recommended consumers stop eating alfalfa sprouts because of an ongoing outbreak of Salmonella. Since then, the source of the contaminated sprouts has been identified. Sales of alfalfa sprouts will resume for U.S. Foodservice as each division receives written verification that their sprouts were not grown from contaminated seed distributed by the Caudill Seed Company. 05-04-2009 Alfalfa Sprouts On April 26, 2009, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a consumer advisory to not eat alfalfa sprouts until further notice. The reason was that the product was linked to an outbreak of Salmonella Saintpaul. Further investigation linked the illnesses to a specific supplier and batch of seeds. 04-27-2009 Alfalfa Sprouts The FDA is advising consumers not to eat fresh alfalfa sprouts or sprout blends containing alfalfa sprouts because of a widespread outbreak of Salmonella, currently 31 cases in 7 states. Swine Influenza (H1N1)

Swine Influenza (H1N1), a new form of type A influenza virus, which has sickened 1400 people and caused more than 86 deaths in Mexico has been indentified in the United States, prompting Government Officials to implement emergency measures. Federal health officials said Sunday that 20 swine flu cases have been reported so far in New York, Ohio, Kansas, Texas and California. All 20 have recovered, or are recovering. MCL Fresh Inc. announced a voluntary recall on all of their Pistachio products sold since January 01, 2008 because these products have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The raw Pistachios were originally purchased from Setton Farms, which is recalling two million pounds of raw and roasted nuts after the discovery of Salmonella in their products and facility. Azar Nut Company today announced a voluntary recall on Azar Raw Shelled Pistachios and Baker’s Select Raw Shelled Pistachios because these products have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The raw Pistachios were originally purchased from Setton Farms, which is recalling two million pounds of raw and roasted nuts after the discovery of Salmonella in their products and facility. 03-31-2009 Pistachio Products, Setton Farms Setton Farms (Setton Pistachio) of Terra Bella, CA is recalling 1 million pounds of pistachio nuts because of the potential for contamination with Salmonella Montevideo. This producer is considered by the FDA to be one of the largest sources of pistachios for wholesalers in the country.
